Background
Yinghui is currently a PhD candidate in computer Science at the
University of Hull. His main research interests include Haptic-based
virtual environment, CAD, computer graphics. He currently holds
a BSc in Mathematics from the Zhejiang University and an MSc in
Computer Science from the Northeast Machinery Institute. Research
Interests
His research currently focuses on presenting frictional force
into virtual environments. Two friction models have been created,
termed the brush model (with fixed stiffness) and the alternative
brush model (with fixed bristle count). The simulation results
have shown that the two friction model present advantages in terms
of haptic simulation of friction, namely:
- Capture most of friction phenomena
- Provide high fidelity in friction simulation
- Relatively low demand on computation
- High level user interface
- Suitable for a wide range of virtual environments applications
